National Steer Tracker

The USDA reported receipts on Monday at Oklahoma National Stockyards (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) at 11,838 head.  This compares to 10,629 last week and 9,442 last year.   Feeder steers and heifers (600-700#) reported steady to $2 higher; steer calves reported mostly steady to $2 lower.    A large crowd reported on hand with active bidding on the large selection again this week.  CME live and feeder cattle futures achieved significant gains on Monday while negotiated fat cattle trade ended up a tick higher for the week with a majority of the trades occurring late Friday afternoon.   Much of the state's wheat pasture seeing benefits from the weekend's warmer weather and sunshine. 

The USDA reported receipts on Monday at Joplin Regional Stockyards (Joplin, Missouri) at 8,142 head.  This compares to 7,334 last week and 4,467 last year.  Steers (under 500#) reported $3-7 higher; heifers reported steady, except yearling heifers (700-850#) reported steady to $5 higher.

The largest steer string on the National Steer Tracker (700-899#) sold on Monday was 212 steers (799#) from Joplin, Missouri at $142.75.  The second largest string sold was 102 steers (876#) from Gering, Nebraska at $139.50.  The average price paid on Monday for the top 25 steer strings (700-899#) was $144.66.

The highest price paid for steers on the National Steer Tracker (700-899#) on Monday was $162.00 for 31 head (716#) at Kingdom City, Missouri.   The second highest price paid for steers on the National Steer Tracker was $159.50 for 67 head (703#) at Gering, Nebraska.  There were 26 sales on Monday that were $150.00 or higher and 153 sales that were $140.00 or higher.
